How to Prepare for a Boudoir Session

February 6, 2018

Ok ladies, if you didn't know.. I am a SUPER fan of boudoir sessions. I could write out 1,000 reasons why you should do one but I'll save that for a different time.

This post is for those of you who have an upcoming boudoir session (or even if you're just thinking about it). Here are things to think about, do, & what not to do. Make sure to comment with any questions you have so that I can see if there is anything that I left out!

1. Find the right photographer.

Don't think that all boudoir photographers are the same. Do your research. I'm known to have fun (& cuss a little when I'm excited)! I like to laugh with you while celebrating your sexiness. My goal is to bring out your personality. I almost always get my favorite shots when I capture you being yourself! If you wanted a more serious and dramatic session, I may not be the one for you. Finding a photographer you mesh well with can also help make you less nervous. This will result in much better photos.

2. Drink lots of water.

A week out from your shoot, focus on drinking water. Your body will thank you & your skin will look marvelous!

3. Wear loose-fitting clothes to your session.

This will help you to avoid red marks on your skin. You know those jeans that you wear that are so comfortable? Those seams make for noticeable lines down your legs. The same goes for tight socks.

4. Add a little more makeup.

I'm not saying to overdo it, but just add a little more than your normal routine. I always recommend getting your makeup done by someone as well. Why not use this as a reason to pamper yourself? Let me see those lashes!!

5. Arrive with clean hair.

This one may seem somewhat silly because dirty hair styles better. However, in this instance, clean hair makes for better photos.

6. Bring music.

Nothing gets you in the mood like your favorite song. Am I right?! I always have a bluetooth speaker set up so that you can play your favorite playlist.

7. Share photo inspiration with your photographer.

We can't read your mind. I send out a questionnaire so that you can share with me the details on what you'd like to capture. Creating a pinterest board is like making a modern day mood board. It is totally worth sharing as I use it to fuel my creativity.

8. Breathe!

If you've followed these steps, you are well on your way to ROCKING your session. Everybody can feel a little nervous but you'll feel so empowered by doing a boudoir session. #girlpower #bodypositive
